Webbapplikation för synliggörande av trädens värden

20171104_fake_oakCalluna och Geografiska informationsbyrån har fått innovationsmedel från Naturvårdsverket Stadsinnovationer ”Webbapplikation för samarbete och synliggörande av trädens värden för hållbar stadsutveckling och förvaltning av stadens gröna infrastruktur”. Vi ska jobba med Anna Koffman och Magnus Tuvendal från Calluna och Solna stad samt Uppsala kommun. Tillsammans ska vi utveckla ett verktyg kring trädens värden i stadsplanering.

Syftet med projektet är att underlätta hållbar stadsplanering och effektiv förvaltning av grön infrastruktur, i det här fallet med fokus på träd och deras värden. För det ändamålet skapas en tjänst för att förädla och visualisera träddata och den gröna infrastrukturen kring dem.

Tjänsten ska bidra till ökat samarbete och förbättrade kontaktytor mellan ekologer, arkitekter, landskapsarkitekter, exploateringsingenjörer, trafikplanerare m.m. samt till medborgarnas förståelse för trädens värden. Tjänsten ska också möjliggöra förbättrad förvaltning och uppföljning av trädens ekologiska värden i konceptet grön infrastruktur.

New functionality in eoMapper

Since the start in May we have consequently added new functionality to the eoMapper platform. The cloud shadow detection has been improved and shadows that occur in other services images are eliminated with eoMapper. More export formats have been added to facilitate the use together with more hard- and software.

In the latest release we focused the interface towards the farm and the fields as well as made it possible to make the analysis on any cloud free Sentinel 2 data image for the field and to compare the vegetation indices from different dates making it possible to follow the development of the crop.

Test for your self and follow the development at field level for the last three years at eoMapper.

Good data for good decisions

We have developed our cloud and shadow eliminating algorithms to be the best possible. The data below are included in other providers clod masked data. Do you want really state of the art cloud filtered satellite data to make better decisions and increase profitability in your organisation? Use the api for most recent and accurate images.

New cloud filter implemented in eoMapper

New state of the art cloud and cloud shadow filter is implemented in eoMapper service for precision agriculture and farm decision support. The left side image is the satellite data over fields north of Uppsala from August 22 and the right side images display the vegetation index based on data from August 22 from a free with cloud free data and from August 20 for the neighbouring field with clouds at the latest date.

Cloud shadows are handled with a multi temporal approach and do not effect the vegetation indices, a great improvement compared to other services. The images with the cloud shadow is from August 22 and the selected image for the field is from August 20.

New Downloads from eoMapper

eoMapper handle the download format of prescription files for all large equipment and system providers. Go to site, find the latest satellite imagery and create your tailored made prescription file to increase the profitability of your farming activities.

Integrate eoMapper with your myJohnDeere account

myJohnDeere makes it even more easy to use the eoMapper prescription files for precision agriculture. While we develop the automated process you can follow these step to get the data straight from the eoMapper portal to your John Deere tractor.

Log in to your eoMapper account

If you do not have a log in it is easy to create and only requires an e-mail. The login is there so that we can help you to find your files and processes.


Find your field

The easiest way is to got to process choose Precicion Farming, search for the nearest town and draw the field with the tool, save the geometry with a field name and start the process.  The field should be under 150 ha and the process will take about one minute.

Process for the most recent cloud free Sentinel-2 imagery and distribute the load

The process analyse the available Sentinel-2 imagery and calculate a MSAVI2 vegetation index on the most recent and cloud free image available. We will soon make all the cloud free data available for time series analyses and seasonal comparisons, all to make your decisions better.

Make your prescription file

The prescription field is made on a combination of your knowledge of the field and the vegetation index. The metric is kg/N per hectare. but could be substituted with e.g. litre or P if that is desired for pest control or application of other nitrogens or combined fertilisers.

Download in the John Deere format

A shapfile in the John Deere file structure.

The result is a zip-file that should be unzipped and uploaded to your myJohnDeere account.

Press the files button under the tools section in the myJohnDeere panel. The files to upload are the .shp, .dbf and .shx. and must be chosen separately.

Assigne the file to an organisation

The shape file will be uploaded as a .zip file and must be assigned to your organisation.


Transfer to a relevant equipment

Transfer the file to the equipment that should use it.

eoMapper has a facelift

The eoMapper frontpage has a small facelift and we have added information on how to use the services for precision agriculture and creation of prescription files. During the three weeks the service has been up we have had visitors on the page from 130 cities or places distributed on all continents except Antarctica. As a tribute we display vegetetaion indices from all continents below. You can click on the images and follow the links if you log in to the site.

Forest analyses made easy -eoMapper

It is quite easy to make forest analyses with eoMapper, the online tool for precision cultivation, forestry and urban development.

Select to start a new process, in this case change detection for clear cuts between 2016 and 2017.

Start the process and the available imagery over the area will be processed to identify areas that have been clear cut.

Precision farming made easy -eoMapper

It is quite easy to make analyses for farm management with eoMapper, the online tool for precision cultivation, forestry and urban development.

Select to start a new process, in this case ‘Precision Farming’.

Chose to draw a field boundary line, in Sweden there is the alternative to use agricultural block, i.e. LPIS geometries.

Draw a field boundary, in this case half a quarter north of Presho in South Dakota, by clicking the vertexes so the line follows the field boundary and dubble klick to close the polygon.

Name the polygon as you please, in this case Presho, but it could be your Farm name and a number. Press save.

Start the process and the available imagery over the area will be analysed and cloud free images identified. The processes are made with Google Earth Engine and usually take under 1 minute to finalize. For the half quarter north of Presho there are five available images from April 1 2016 until now. At the moment only the latest scene is processed to a vegetation index (MSAVI2). Development to be able to chose between the images, to make time series analysis and for comparison between different years is on the way.

The vegetation index is shown with a brown to green legend showing bare land to lush vegetation. Use you local knowledge and decide which amount of Nitrogen that should be used per hectare dependent on the greenness of the vegetation. In this case the figures are filled for an extra spring nitrogen application. The greenest areas are considered to need less Nitrogen and more the lower the index become, the lowest index are considered to be to sparse and no fertilizer will be applied. This is hypothetical and local knowledge must be applied. Klick the next button to process the index to a Nitrogen load map.

The proportion of Nitrogen in the fertilizer can be changed and the load will be adequately recalculated. Press order for prescription file alternatives.
